I was one of those people whose life had not been touched by breast cancer. I have no family history, didn’t know anyone, not even a friend of a friend, who had it.
Then one week before Christmas 2011, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. Instead of shopping for Christmas presents, I was scheduling doctor’s appointments. I was raising a 3-year-old, had just started a new job and now was about to get on the breast cancer roller coaster. Throughout the ups and downs, I always felt one thing.
Breast cancer brought me closer to my spirituality, and for that I will always be grateful. I have more faith now, believe in the power of prayer, and believe someone is watching over me. Sai Baba is my protector, he bore my pain.
